Teacher, Author, Artist
Lisa L. Frechette, M.A., M.Ed.
I have been called a ‘grief queen,’ experiencing my first major loss with the unexpected death of my infant son. Soon after I became the end of life caretaker for each of my parents. Woven between these experiences my marriage disintegrated and my middle child struggled with addiction, eventually causing his death. Integrating significant personal loss with my experience as an author, teacher and artist, I wrote Responding to Grief; A Workbook Guide for Those Seeking to Explore, Heal, and Transform Loss.
My undergraduate degree is in psychology with a minor in health education, and was earned at Worcester State University. Intrigued and curious about what made people tick and how I might be of service, I went on to attain a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Assumption College. While raising my children, I felt pulled to study teaching and earned a master’s degree in education from Cambridge College. All of my education was garnered in Massachusetts.
My teaching experience is extensive. I have worked as a preschool teacher and founding member of a private school and taught second grade and middle school students in a public school. Throughout these teaching years, I also began painting and teaching art to both children and adults.
I enjoy making my own art as well as teaching both art and academic subjects. With that in mind, I started my own academic tutoring business, working privately with elementary, middle, and high-school students. I also opened an art gallery offering my own art, teaching expressive arts classes, and hosting art classes taught by other teachers. This creative milieu eventually led to the translation of my paintings to clothing.
Following my young adult son’s death, I utilized my creative writing skills and wrote about our relationship. The book’s title is Transforming to Joy; Responding to My Son’s Struggle with Addiction. Loss and grief and their healthy expression were not new to me when the pandemic struck. I felt called to share practical ways to support my fellow humans on this bumpy road of life in another book called Responding to Grief; A Workbook Guide for Those Seeking to Explore, Heal, and Transform Loss. It was written during the Covid-19 shutdown.
I currently facilitate Responding to Grief services including grief informed programs, individual and group support, and a private facebook group for those experiencing loss.
Psychotherapist & Yoga Instructor
Lynne Tracy Cooke, M.A., LMHC, RYT (500)
When human beings experience loss, it is not uncommon for their lives to change. Such a change occurred to me at age sixteen when my brother died in a car accident. In response to this grief, I began to study yoga, the ancient science of spiritual development practiced to train the body and mind to self-observe and become aware of our true nature.
I went on to receive my undergraduate degree in psychology from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University. I am a licensed mental health counselor in a successful private practice.
Counseling people who are navigating through difficult and uncomfortable emotions has been my life’s work. In my practice, I treat individuals suffering with grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, illness, end of life transitions, substance use disorders, effects of domestic violence, and relationship difficulties.
Along with my counseling experience, I specialize in maternal wellness. I am also a consultant to Employee Assistant Programs, providing individual counseling to employees as well as trainings for corporations and hospitals as well as facilitating numerous Critical Incident Stress Debriefing programs in response to occurrences such as workplace layoffs, suicide, and other traumatic events affecting employees.
Yoga and Breathing Breaks(™) are woven into my counseling style and my life’s purpose. With the guidance and grace of my teacher, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi or Amma, I seek to support the wellbeing of humankind.
I currently facilitate Responding to Grief services including individual and group support.
