On Valentine’s Day
Grief’s pain offers us the possibility of opening our hearts to gratitude and compassion. Not at the beginning of the loss when we’re in survival mode but later… as time and healing softens the pain. We don’t get ‘over’ the loss. We learn to live with it in a new way.
When our life has been torn apart with an intense loss, we can’t go on the way we did… our hearts are broken open. It’s so painful. And within that pain there’s a seed of Love never experienced before… that Love rests right next to the pain. There is room in our hearts for all of it.
This is my experience after many years following the deaths of my two boys, parents, and a messy divorce. I hope it provides you with Hope for this moment, this day, and the moments ahead.
